Copyright training for research students in the School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering
This presentation is an overview of copyright information that you should be aware of when doing your research and writing your thesis. You will inevitably draw upon and quote other peoples work (such as text, illustrations and diagrams), and so it is important that you are are aware of what is legally permitted without asking permission from copyright holders, and when it is necessary to request permission.
The session will include information about how long copyright lasts, how much you can copy from a work, how to request permission, and other legal compliance issues such as confidentiality. It will also cover the implications of theses being made publicly available online on City Research Online, which is City's research repository.
