Tips for digital reading

Do you find reading text in e-books and online journals challenging or uncomfortable? Do you experience barriers such as:

  • Difficulty processing and retaining information
  • Issues with text display (e.g., font, background, line spacing, and margins)

Join us for our Neurodiversity Celebration Week workshop which will explore some solutions to these issues when reading academic materials. This workshop is open to all students. We will explore:

  • Text-to-speech (listening back to text)
  • Customising your display
  • Accessibility features built into online resources
  • Tools and e-readers available on campus
  • Reading for leisure and more...

Accessibility adjustments

We endeavour to make our workshops inclusive by design. If you require a specific adjustment for this workshop, email subjectlibrarians@city.ac.uk. Include the name, date and time of the workshop you wish to attend to discuss support options. Some adjustments may take longer to organise, so contact us in good time before the start of the workshop.
Registration has closed.

This will be an informal session where we will show you tools to help with reading digital texts. There will be a chance to get some hands on experience and ask questions.

Please bring wired headphones if you would like to listen back to text.
