Health & Psychology Postgraduates & Researchers: Performing a scoping search to validate your proposed research question

This workshop is aimed at Masters and PhD students, researchers and academics from SHPS, who are embarking on a dissertation/research paper.

Before you start your research it is important to perform a ‘scoping search’ to ensure:

  • A paper covering your proposed question hasn’t already been published/is in progress
  • Your question isn’t too narrow meaning there isn’t enough relevant research available
  • Your question isn’t too broad meaning you will be overloaded with research to screen through.

This workshop will demonstrate some of the key resources you can use to perform a scoping search.
